[ Black Hills Photo Gallery - Northern Hills - Old Fort Meade Museum ]

The Old Fort Meade Museum is located on the grounds of Ft. Meade, one mile east of the town of Sturgis on Highway 34. The fort has been around since the Civil War. Today the fort is a regional VA hospital, but in the museum you can learn the history of this outpost including Col. Samuel D. Sturgis (hence the name of the nearby town), the first permanent commander of the fort and leader of the 7th Cavalry.

The museum is open daily from May 15th through September 15th.
