[ Black Hills Photo Gallery - Rapid City - Museum of Geology ] Stop three on the Rapid City Star Tour is the Museum of Geology located on the campus of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. The museum is part of the fossil research facility for the School of Mines. The Black Hills area is rich in fossils and minerals. Because of this the museum and research facility has been founded on the college campus. The museum is located just east of downtown Rapid City on the campus of the School of Mines.
