[ Black Hills Photo Gallery - Central Hills - Custer State Park ]

Custer State Park is probably most famous for being the home of the famous Needles Highway. The road got its name from the rock formations that resemble the "eyes" on the ends of needles. Several other scenic drives await visitors to the park as well as wildlife reserves and numerous opportunities to view wile animals up close. There are also several other resorts, lodges, and places of interest that greet visitors to the park. The park is also home to the Black Hills Playhouse.

Custer state park is located east of Custer on US Highway 16 or Southeast of Hill City on US Highway 16 - 385 to Highway 89. The Needles Highway is sometimes closed during the winter months as snow removal from some areas is not easy.
